Adventures in the Ancient Runes Campaign

The Sorcerer’s Tower (3-5) - Zuthan Trog (the sorcerer) steals off with Prince Brinjar’s (heir to the throne of Shalis) wife to be, and you are sent into Murkwood, where the Sorcerer’s Tower lies, and manage to rescue the annoying Princess Narcissa of Salmonelis (i.e. the bride to be), and receive the applause of all Shalis and Salmonelis’s population – including the mayor’s butler.

Shadows over Blackdeath (5-9) - begins in Salmonelis, which is being threatened by a savage monster army. To save the city you went to seek the advice of Nicodmos, in Blackdeath, and on the way passed through Elvenwood, joined Bras’s caravan in Murkham, mere hours before he was murdered, entered Blackdeath and heard of the decline of the city’s infamous thieves’ guild and the rising power of the city’s Lord, D’azz Acoor. You also met Nicodmos, grumpy but helpful, who told you of the Ancient Library of Karsepolis and asked your help in finding it and told of the ancient and mythical power that can summon Karsepolis’s old army to fight for your aid (the reason why he “retired” to Blackdeath and resides near the sewer entrance). You then had a smelly tour in the city sewers (which included a visit to the the well preserved temple of a forgotten travel god, in Karsepolis) on your way to Lord Acoor, and finally met the devilishly clever man himself (pun intended). Both he and Nicodmos demanded that you enter The Champion’s Test in Mamphang, each for his own reasons, and so that’s what you agreed to do – thus causing the great armies of the savage north to recede.

The Champion’s Test (9-20) – Entering the Champion’s Test, you must survive the three parts of the maze, collecting 7 gems (Saphire, Emerald, Ruby, Diamond, Topaz, Dragon Blood and White Smoke) on the way, and exit the maze at the end. But will destruction follow your success? [Adventure currenty in play]

Ancient Runes (epic) - Karsepolis’s ancient library is seeked by all – those who wish to gain power and knowledge, those who wish to do good, and those who wish to reverse fate and death itself. Who will reach the library first, and what will they find within?

  1. The first adventure we played was outside the Ancient Runes campaign, and was called “The Burning Plague”. It was set in the lower north-eastern mountains of Alanasia.
    Koby and Mickey have been playing in the campaign from its start (Koby actually started even sooner), and if Koby hadn’t switched characters, his Seamore would have been the only character to start and (hopefully) end the campaign without change (except in stats and stuff like that).
    You’ll be entering the third part of the maze in level 16-17, and ending it (those that survive – when you’ll get there, you’ll see) at level 20.
    You also have an Archnemesis, in the shape of Theodrid, who has been with you since level 3. When will he give up his pursuit? That’s for him to know and for you to learn…
